Crypt abscess

Crypt abscess is a collection of neutrophils in an intestinal crypt. On the spectrum of inflammatory changes, it is more severe than cryptitis but less severe than ulceration.

Microscopic

Features:

• Neutrophils in the lumen of an intestinal crypt.

Notes:

• No minimum is defined for "neutrophils".^{[citation needed]}
• Usually seen with cryptitis.
