These specimens are very rare.

Specimen opening

  • Orient specimen (if possible).
  • Ink external surface of specimen.
  • Section perpendicular to the urethra.

Protocol

Specimen:

  • Weight of specimen: ___ grams.
  • Prostate dimensions (superior-inferior, left-to-right, anterior-posterior): ___ x ___ x ___ cm.
  • Cut surface description: __________________.
  • Nodules [present/absent]

Nodules:

  • Appearance ___________________.
  • Circumscription: poor/moderate/good.
  • Size: ___ x ___ x ___ cm.
  • Distance to margin __________ cm.
  • Necrosis: yes/no.

Blocking:

  • In total is small.
  • UCLA suggests 8-10 blocks.[1]
